Success has a very extensive meaning. It depends on the person defining the word because we have a different interpretation of it. Some people correlate success with the amount of money they have in the bank, the properties enlisted in their names, the number of followers on social media, an excellent career, the prosperity of marriage, or the wellness of the whole family. However, what does success really mean? What does the bible say about it?

5 Bible Verses About Success:

Matthew 16:26

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?”

The Bible tells us that nothing is more valuable than our soul. Often, people misunderstand success that they do evil act just to get a promotion, win a client, or keep a company. These things are an example of correlating success with money, and it is not the way God wants us to live our lives. We can combine all the riches in the world, but it still wouldn’t suffice to sacrifice one soul.

Proverbs 16:3

“Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established.”

The Bible teaches us to trust God in all our endeavors. If we lay our plans to Him, He will guide us to how we could harness the goodness in it. The line “plans will be established” doesn’t mean that your plan will prosper according to your will but His, and it will always be for good.

Romans 8:18

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

The Bible wants us to be firm and steadfast, and all our sacrifices and sufferings are nothing compared to the glory He intended for us. The Bible wants us to know that all things in this world are temporary and so as the struggles. If we remain faithful and live life according to God’s will, we will experience the infinite greatness that He promised.

Deuteronomy 29:9

“So keep the words of this covenant to do them that you may prosper in all that you do.”

God has given us commandments to serve as a guide on how we should live our lives. If we learn to keep His laws, we will discover that God always had the path to success laid in front us, and all we have to do is follow Him. If we deviate from His words, nothing awaits us but a dead end.

Joshua 1:7

“Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go.”

The road toward success involves many confusions and temptations which pulls us away from what God wants for us. His words and laws should always be in our hearts, so we will not lose ourselves to sin. We should bear in mind that drowning in it is the ultimate failure.

We may all have a different definition of success, but in the end, only one stands, and it is what God says it is. If we are living life in contrary to His will, then we know what awaits us. We may gain success here on earth, but whatever we acquire here will stay here. We cannot carry anything when we leave this place, and God wants us to realize that our lives are more meaningful than money, trophies, or fame. Life should be the success He intended for us which He will reveal in time.
